Korea is distributed in Korea under the standard names such as “wide flounder,” “rock halibut,” and “chewy halibut.” Only few people have tasted raw turbot in Korea.
In Europe and China, where turbot is consumed the most, the fish is cooked as steak or other high-end dish.
Haeyeon procures fish stock resources from Korean and French distributors, which are genetically analyzed and managed through Blugen Korea, a joint research institution. Through this attempt, Haeyeon became the first company in Korea to distribute and export turbot breeds optimized for farming in Korean environments.
Collaborating with Blugen Korea, Haeyeon Fish Farm is continuing research efforts to produce turbot optimized for farming in Korea, developing genetic diversity and creating quickly growing and disease-resistant turbot breeds.
